Lesser Cuckoo belongs to the family Cuculidae. It is a widely distributed species of Cuckoo. Seen in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Kenya, North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Malawi, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Even though it is somewhat common in neighboring states, Lesser Cuckoo is not recorded only a few records were there from Kerala.
